Rainbow Connection was started in 1980 as an outreach program for the church and community by Shelby Presbyterian Church. At Rainbow Connection, we learn through play. It is considered an “enriched play-school” because learning can be done in a variety of ways and that’s how we do it!
 

The Rainbow Connection offers Bible Story time each week, arts and crafts, sharing time and outdoor playtime. Field trips are planned throughout the year for the older classes, and include such fun places as the fire station, post office and other places of interest.
 

Hours

The Rainbow Connection meets Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
 

Registration

Yearly registration is held in the spring, although children are accepted for enrollment throughout the year as long as there are spaces available. Classes are filled first by children already enrolled and their siblings, then children of Shelby Presbyterian Church members, and then by the community. There is a $50.00 non-refundable registration fee and a $40.00 non-refundable registration fee for each additional sibling. The registration fee is payable at the time the application is submitted.
 

Class Size

Class size is carefully determined, with care taken to keep child/teacher ratios at an appropriate level.

• Toddlers, there is a 4:1 child/teacher ratio. This translates to a class of 8 children per day, with a teacher and assistant.
   

• Twos, a 5:1 child/teacher ratio translates to 10 children per day, with a teacher and assistant.

• Threes/Fours, there is a 7:1 child/teacher ratio, with one teacher and one assistant per classroom.

​

• Fours/Pre-Kindergarten classes, there is a 14:1 child/teacher ratio, with one teacher per classroom and a shared assistant between these two classes.
   

Scholarships

Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to qualifying applicants. Contact the Rainbow Connection Director for further information.

Through Rainbow Connection, Shelby Presbyterian Church serves our community’s children and families by providing a Christian Preschool environment where each child’s unique mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and social development is lovingly and optimally nurtured.
