Giving of Your Time, Talents, and Tithe

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” – 1 Peter 4:10

At Shelby Presbyterian Church, we seek to grow in knowledge and faith, praising God as one community, and serving God and neighbor with love. We believe everyone has been given gifts from God to share and in turn, we all benefit from a common life or fellowship with one another as part of such a church.

In simplest terms, this means we give our time in prayer and participation, we give our talents in volunteer work and our vocations, and we give from our resources as an offering.

Every one of us has different gifts and different needs, from the first-time visitor to the longtime member. When we share a life in common through fellowship, it reflects the humility of our Lord Jesus Christ, who being God, shared in our humanity to share the life of God with us. Your gifts online and pledge cards go directly to the Church Administrator and are kept confidential. Give online now.

Ways to give to Shelby Presbyterian Church

Time to Pray

The first gift to your church is prayer. Please pray for Shelby Presbyterian Church, the needs of its members and the needs of those in our community. Prayer keeps us connected with God and it connects us to those for whom we pray. Your time in prayer is greatly appreciated. Here is a link to a card that may help you pray for your church in this coming year.

Talent to Serve

Each of us has been blessed by God with skills and abilities that can be used for the Kingdom of God. Living a common life of fellowship means serving alongside one another in the ministries of the church. We have committees and existing ministries in which you can serve, but we also want your ideas and interests too! Here is a link to a brochure with volunteer opportunities and a link to a form where you can let us know your interests.

Treasure to Give

Financial gifts and donations of needed supplies are integral to the ministry of the church, and it is a spiritual discipline to give in this way. We give in response to God’s favor, and not in an effort to earn God’s favor nor the church’s favor. We ask that your discernment be prayerful, to give as you are led and as you can afford to.

(As a church, we use non-binding pledges to budget for the upcoming year. All individual pledges and gifts are kept confidential by the church administrator and not seen by church leadership, including the pastor. Aggregate numbers and trends are used to plan.)

To make a pledge, you can contact the church administrator for more information about pledging to the church on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis. Payment by credit card is an option and online giving through our secure platform. Your gifts online and pledge cards go directly to the Church Administrator and are kept confidential.

You can also give directly through your financial institution, which should have information on its website regarding, “Bill Pay.” You can just set up Shelby Presbyterian Church as your ‘payee’ and include the following address: PO Box 1444 Shelby NC 28151-1444; and phone number 704-487-8503

If the Bill Pay asks for an account number you may put your last name for the pledge or you can put a special project (i.e. organ fund, Food Ministry, Guatemala Water Project, etc.). Bill Pay payments are issued as a paper check and in most cases will not clear your account until after processing by Shelby Presbyterian Church (check with your financial institution). If you have questions about your individual Bill Pay, please contact your financial institution.
